I’ve listened to a number of books about minimalism or decluttering, and I really enjoyed this book by Fumio Sasaki.
In Goodbye, Things: The New Japanese Minimalism, the author tells the story of his life before and after deciding to become a minimalist. He tells of his life before becoming minimalist, about drinking too much, feeling unhappy, buying things he didn’t need. Then, he moved to a smaller apartment, systematically reduced the number of his possessions, and began to live more simply. He became happier and more successful in his simple life than he had when he was engaging in compulsive consumerism.
Goodbye Things will inspire you to live with less and to find contentment and happiness in the simplicity of life. There are over 50 tips that are presented in a simple way. I found many of them very helpful and have since begun to get rid of things I don’t need anymore.
This is a short book, easy to listen to, and can have a big impact on your life.
